Our family officially began our process of "Support Team" building on Nov. 1st.  We are excited about the team that God is going to bring together to enable our family to transplant into Alaskan Villages.  This is going to make it possible for us to reach into areas that normally would be unable to have sustained ministry due to lack of resources and the climate and terrain challenges.

My days have looked very different over the past few weeks, than they have in years.  As Assembly of God US Missionaries, we are to devote our full time attention to building our support team and raising 100% of our budget.  This way, we are able to get into our mission's field a.s.a.p.  For this to take place, we must raise our full budget of monthly support from individuals, churches and even businesses that will partner with us.  My days now consist of writing and typing letters, making numerous phone calls, scheduling appointments, speaking at churches, trying to meet with any and every individual that will hear what God is doing in our lives, and an extreme amount of prayer that God will develop this team to further His ministry!

About two weeks ago, I was looking at the massive mountain that we are trying to climb during this process, and God reminded me of a time that I was ministering in Southern Idaho.  I went on an elk hunt in Riggins Idaho with three other guys.  We were driving down this one lane logging road with a drop to the Little Salmon River on our left and a wall of mountain on my right.  We went to a wide spot in the road, turned around, and parked on the edge to allow others that might pass to squeeze between our trucks and this wall of mountain.  This might not sound intimidating, but it normally takes about the room of a football field to turn my big truck around in, so this was an interesting 26 point turn...  Once we parked, one of the men I was with, told me, "o.k., this is where we are going up"!  I looked at what truly looked like a wall, and kind of chuckled.  I said to him, "seriously, where are we going up at"?  Next thing I knew, he began to walk to this wall!  As I followed him and got closer to this wall, I saw what could best be described as a goat trail zigzagging up the side of the mountain.  It was a trail approximately 6-8 inches wide.  Oh, I also forgot to tell you that there was a fresh 6 inches of snow that fell overnight, and it was still snowing.  This made that little trail seem that much more intimidating!  Needless to say, we all proceeded up this mountain, but it wasn't at a sprint, it wasn't at a jog, it wasn't even at a regular walking pace, it was at a pace that would be take a step, make sure that it was secure, and then proceed to the next.  Eventually, we reached our destination, and praise God, meat was in the freezer.

I told all of you about this, because that is where we are currently as a family.  We are looking at this wall, and God has said, "o.k. here is where we go up".  We know that the end result is all in His hands and that He is going to get us to our destination.  It is just taking one small step at the time!

I chose the verse in the picture above, because so often I believe that we look at the mountain, and forget to move.  We often times don't begin, for fear of failure.  We often don't sow into something for financial fears.  We often don't step out for so many reasons, but God is calling us all to do something, and this verse says that the Lord "Rejoices" to see the work "Begin".  How often have we looked at the wall of mountain, stopped, stared, and maybe even turned around and went back home and got into our warm bed?  None of these are an option for our family!  There are lost and hurting people in the Alaskan Villages, and God has called us to step out, walk to this mountain, and step by step reach our destination and to proclaim the message of "Hope" to those that have considered themselves hopeless!!!
